About Us

Casino Club Colonial was founded in 1982, at the very start of the casino industry in Costa Rica.

We are proud that the founder and current owner of the company is one of the casino pioneers in this country. He has a broad vision of business growth, which has made it possible, in recent years, to create a secure and stable organization with a range of services. Thus, we can offer our customers and partners the best of the industry.

The company began in a building across the street from the current casino building. This original building is a colonial-style house. In 1996, the company reopened in its current building, which is more spacious than the previous one and which allows room for more gaming tables, electronic machines, two bars (one up stairs) and the Magnolia Restaurant, which offers delicious tipical and international cuisine.

Our current location is at the center of the city of San José, on 1st Avenue, between 9th and 11th Streets. It is one of the most culturally important areas of the city, close to Costa Rica’s most interesting museums—the Gold Museum, the Jade Museum, Morazan Park and the National Museum.

Our newest addition…

After years in the casino industry and in view of the need to provide enhanced service to our customers, we decided to build a hotel. In 2005, we opened this newest addition adjacent to the current Casino Club Colonial. The hotel is affiliated with the Choice Hotels chain, and it carries the Sleep Inn brand. It is the newest hotel in downtown San José.
The Sleep Inn Hotel is a completely SMOKE FREE facility, the first of its kind in Costa Rica; with this casino, we take a step toward protecting the environment and the health of our clients. The casino has a friendly atmosphere and is as much fun as our other casino.

We have also strengthened our service in the restaurant, in the bars, at the slot machines, etc. This improved service enhances customer satisfaction and makes each visit something more than the customer expects. In 2007, we opened the Café Colonial, which serves delicious desserts and custom-prepared coffees.
